Rent in Cuenca for 2 months?

by Debi & David
(Arizona, USA)

My husband and I plan to visit Cuenca for 2 months next year to get a feel for the city and hopefully begin preparations to move there permanently. I am hopeful that we can rent an apartment or condo, rather than stay in a hostal for that length of time.

Can you offer us some guidance and advice? Is it possible to rent a place for 2 months? How would we do that before actually arriving in Cuenca? What should we expect to pay for rent/utilities? Thanks! And way-to-go on this fantastic website!

Hi Debi and David.

Thank you for your praise. We're glad that our site has been a help to you.

It shouldn't be a problem to rent a condo for two months next year. There are many rentals available for shorter terms. Many come fully furnished and outfitted, including the propane, water and electricity. Some also include internet, and the occasional one throws in a cell phone that you supply with minutes.

There are a few agencies that have rentals available. Two of the bigger ones are:

CuencaCondos.com

CuencaRealEstate.com

I suggest that you write to them, letting them know when you're coming and what type of accommodations you need (# of bedrooms, absolutely everything include or just furnished, etc.).

They'll help you find something. You'll pay anywhere from $500 for a small furnished place to as much as $1,000 or more for a luxury 3 bedroom place.

I just want to thank you both soooo much for creating this web site. I am originally from Cuenca but moved to New York 11 years ago and have not being back since. My husband and I are planning on visiting Cuenca over the Summer and this web site has helped me a lot.

When I came to the US we still had the "sucre," the bus ride cost 1,000 sucres and a pack of trident gum would cost 3,000 sucres. I am very nervous to go back, but thanks to your web site I now know what to expect.

My husband is American and Captivating Cuenca has taught him a lot about what my great city has to offer, things that I had forgotten about myself! :)

Thank You both so much! I cannot wait to visit Cuenca!!
