We need to hire a truck and movers to get our belongings from one apartment to the new one. Any recommendations would be appreciated. Expected prices to pay and contacts would be great.

Kris, your best bet is to ask some of your neighbours in your building for recommendations. Each person you ask will probably know someone (and will likely take a cut from the movers if you hire their recommendation).
The cost depends on the size of your move. We just moved in June, and the total cost was less than $150. But a fair bit of the small stuff (boxes, suitcases) went in our two SUVs.
If you're moving a large apartment full of stuff, your cost could be $200 or more, but I doubt if it will reach $250.
I recommend tipping the guys doing the grunt work $5 each. I also recommend having a list of items, perhaps with stickers on them, each with a number. I know of someone in Cuenca who "lost" some stuff during a move and didn't realize it until a week later when she was unpacking.
Have someone checking that it all goes on the truck, and that it all makes it into your new apartment.

I just want to thank you both soooo much for creating this web site. I am originally from Cuenca but moved to New York 11 years ago and have not being back since. My husband and I are planning on visiting Cuenca over the Summer and this web site has helped me a lot.
When I came to the US we still had the "sucre," the bus ride cost 1,000 sucres and a pack of trident gum would cost 3,000 sucres. I am very nervous to go back, but thanks to your web site I now know what to expect.
My husband is American and Captivating Cuenca has taught him a lot about what my great city has to offer, things that I had forgotten about myself! :)
Thank You both so much! I cannot wait to visit Cuenca!!
