INTI Lengua y Cultura
Combining Spanish With Other Activities

INTI Lengua Y Cultura has closed its doors. If you're looking for somewhere to learn Spanish, click here to go back to the Where To Learn Spanish in Cuenca page.

If you'd like to learn Spanish while you're enjoying other activities, INTI Lengua y Cultura has a program for you.

The Programs

INTI Lengua y Cultura

INTI combines traditional classroom instruction with cultural experiences for all age groups and all Spanish skill levels (elementary, beginner, intermediate, advanced).

Eulalia Brito, one of INTI's directors, told us that the programs were developed with European and North Americans in mind, who enjoy taking tours around local areas, and learning to cook or dance or make pottery.

You can choose from 10, 20 or 30 hours of Spanish instruction each week, including two, four or six hours of optional classes (depending on the total number of hours). You can choose from courses in local cooking, photography, ceramics, dance, handicrafts, or art and music.

You can also select one of several tours, including:

  • a gastronomy tour
  • a handicrafts tour
  • an archeological tour, where you'll learn about the Incan culture
  • a birdwatching tour
  • an extreme sports tour

Classes begin every Monday, so you don't have to wait long to begin learning Spanish. Study as part of a group or individually.

The School

Or INTI can host you with a local family (where you get to apply your new Spanish skills!) or put you up in a nearby apartment. All accommodations are included in the price of your course.

The INTI building also has free internet access.

Costs

The tuition is based on the number of hours of instruction, any options you want, and what type of accommodations you want. Check the website for details on the prices.

Testimonials

I just want to thank you both soooo much for creating this web site. I am originally from Cuenca but moved to New York 11 years ago and have not being back since. My husband and I are planning on visiting Cuenca over the Summer and this web site has helped me a lot.

When I came to the US we still had the "sucre," the bus ride cost 1,000 sucres and a pack of trident gum would cost 3,000 sucres. I am very nervous to go back, but thanks to your web site I now know what to expect. My husband is American and Captivating Cuenca has taught him a lot about what my great city has to offer, things that I had forgotten about myself! :)

Thank You both so much! I cannot wait to visit Cuenca!!
