Hotel Santa Lucía
A Gem in Cuenca's El Centro

Hotel Santa Lucía sitting room

There are many buildings in Cuenca that stand out for their beauty. Hotel Santa Lucía is one of them.

Just a block from El Centro's main plaza, Parque Calderón, Hotel Santa Lucía (also known as Hotel Boutique Santa Lucía) seems, from the outside, like a lovely and cherished grandmother.

On the inside, she's full of stories and history. Elegant in all her finery, she's attractive and full of charm and character.

She is, of course, a restored colonial home, built in 1849. Named after one of her owners, she has three floors around a gorgeous courtyard full of plants, flowers and dining tables.

Walk inside and Santa Lucía invites you to while away the time in the Inti cafe or the bar, which are across from each other as you enter the hotel, or to enjoy a fine meal in the spacious courtyard restaurant. Relax in the beauty of the large sitting room. Or rest in the carefully selected and artful elegance of one of the guest rooms.

Hotel Santa Lucía is a gem and a treasure that's sure to please the most discerning visitor to Cuenca.

The glass roof provides warmth and light to the indoor balcony on the second floor and the courtyard restaurant on the main floor. The sitting areas are decorated with lovely murals and handpainted metal work.

Also on the second floor, the large sitting room (with a working fireplace) often serves as a conference room for up to 40 people.

Testimonials

I just want to thank you both soooo much for creating this web site. I am originally from Cuenca but moved to New York 11 years ago and have not being back since. My husband and I are planning on visiting Cuenca over the Summer and this web site has helped me a lot.

When I came to the US we still had the "sucre," the bus ride cost 1,000 sucres and a pack of trident gum would cost 3,000 sucres. I am very nervous to go back, but thanks to your web site I now know what to expect. My husband is American and Captivating Cuenca has taught him a lot about what my great city has to offer, things that I had forgotten about myself! :)

Thank You both so much! I cannot wait to visit Cuenca!!
