Hotel Crespo has been welcoming guests to Cuenca for 50 years. Perched on the barranco (riverbank) above Tomebamba River, many of the rooms have spectacular views of New Town and the mountains off to the south. And its location at the southern edge of El Centro makes it very handy for a downtown walking adventure.

There are a few sitting areas in the interior of the hotel.
The lobby has a very colorful large-tile mosaic above the front desk.
The only other public areas are the bar and the restaurant.

All of the 39 guest rooms (on five floors, from river level up to above street level) are different sizes.
Each is decorated differently as well, one with ornate columns and arches above the bed. Only a few have a bathtub; the rest have showers.
Your favorite will be one of the rooms with a terrace overlooking the river and New Town.
The remaining rooms have city views from their windows. Some of these rooms are in need of remodeling or new furniture.
Every room has heating, television and AM-FM radio and a mini-bar.
Rates (which include breakfast and taxes) are $84 per night for one person, $108 for a two-person room, and $120 for three people.

La Casona offers an international menu and wide views of New Town and the mountains to the south. The restaurant is decorated with a lot of wood paneling and upholstered banquettes.
Some of its more interesting dishes are Cream of Avocado with Vodka soup and Trout Creole Style Nuts, and Picasso Style Sea Bass.
The cafeteria offers sandwiches and burgers, including a bacon and cheese burger and The Countryman. Try it with one of the delicious juices available there.
There's also Bar El Alambique for a glass of wine or beer before you head out to see El Centro at night.
Hotel Crespo offers free transportation to and from the airport. It also has free and secure parking if you're driving to Cuenca.
Internet computer stations are available. Each guest has one hour of free internet access. A phone with international and national direct dialing is available in every room.
The hotel's staff will arrange tours for you with knowledgeable guides of Cuenca and the surrounding areas.
Room service is available to all rooms. And if you're planning a large event, Hotel Crespo also offers catering services.

I just want to thank you both soooo much for creating this web site. I am originally from Cuenca but moved to New York 11 years ago and have not being back since. My husband and I are planning on visiting Cuenca over the Summer and this web site has helped me a lot.
When I came to the US we still had the "sucre," the bus ride cost 1,000 sucres and a pack of trident gum would cost 3,000 sucres. I am very nervous to go back, but thanks to your web site I now know what to expect.
My husband is American and Captivating Cuenca has taught him a lot about what my great city has to offer, things that I had forgotten about myself! :)
Thank You both so much! I cannot wait to visit Cuenca!!
