Cuenca's Newest Restored Colonial Hotel

A recent addition to the growing list of stylish hotels in Cuenca is Hotel Coronel, a colonial building lovingly restored by its owner, Victor Coronel.

This new hotel is located a few blocks from Parque Calderón, the main plaza in El Centro. It's within walking distance of some of Cuenca's interesting outdoor markets, churches, and street vendors.

Victor Coronel, the owner, is very proud of his new hotel, and it shows in the service and attentiveness of the employees, the wonderful organic foods in the restaurant, and the smile on Victor's face as he shows you the various rooms. He has not overlooked anything, and his attention to details is evident.

The Public Areas of Hotel Coronel

As with most colonial buildings in Ecuador, the three floors are built around a central covered courtyard, where Don Vitto's, the hotel restaurant, is located.

Around the main floor perimeter of the courtyard are comfortable sitting areas, a computer station, a bar and the reception area.

Hotel Coronel welcomes you warmly as you step from Calle Mariano Cueva into the main courtyard area for lunch or a cup of tea, or to check into one of the hotel's charming rooms.

The Rooms in Hotel Coronel

The hotel has 12 rooms, all very comfortable, spacious and clean.

One is a large third floor suite with a kitchen and living area plus a bedroom and bathtub-equipped bathroom. It rents for $149.00 per night. It's also available for a monthly rental discount.

You'll find 9 rooms with two queen beds each, at $54 per night, and 2 rooms with three beds for $66.00 per night.

All rooms and suites have their own bathroom, courtyard views, a television, and a refrigerator.

Dining at Hotel Coronel

Restaurante Don Vitto serves very healthy food using only locally grown vegetables. Dishes include delicious soups and various Ecuadorian dishes. It's open for lunch and dinner, and can seat up to 100 people. A full American breakfast, included with each stay, is served in the courtyard restaurant.

Hotel Coronel provides concierge services to guests. You'll also find a tour service, owned by Victor Coronel, in the building.
