Hello Guys.
My name is Vivian and I and my husband are going to Ecuador for a one week I-cannot-wait holiday.
We are getting into Cuenca on May 16th 2011 from Quito, around 7PM.
Is it easy to get a taxi at the airport to go to the hostel in downtown?
And how much is the right fare from Cuenca airport to the Nova inn in downtown?
I assume that there are some taxi drivers who think of foreign tourists as an ATM card. (I have lived in BKK, KL and other cities.)
Thank you and I sincerely wish to have a chance to meet some expats when we get in Cuenca.
Best regards
Vivian

Hi Vivian.
Taxis are always available when a flight arrives, especially around 7 p.m. You won't have any problems finding one, as there will likely be several lined up outside.
I'll assume that you're going to the Villa Nova Inn, which is very close to downtown. So the fare should be no more than $3. But you can negotiate before you get in the cab. Under no circumstances should you pay more than $3.
Jeff

I just want to thank you both soooo much for creating this web site. I am originally from Cuenca but moved to New York 11 years ago and have not being back since. My husband and I are planning on visiting Cuenca over the Summer and this web site has helped me a lot.
When I came to the US we still had the "sucre," the bus ride cost 1,000 sucres and a pack of trident gum would cost 3,000 sucres. I am very nervous to go back, but thanks to your web site I now know what to expect.
My husband is American and Captivating Cuenca has taught him a lot about what my great city has to offer, things that I had forgotten about myself! :)
Thank You both so much! I cannot wait to visit Cuenca!!
