Diners Club International

Diners Club International Credit Card
The Most Popular Card in Ecuador

The Diners Club International credit card is accepted throughout Ecuador. The only catch is that you'll have to apply for one here, as it's pretty much non-existent in North America.

If you're visiting or moving here from a European country or another country that has Diners Club, you can use your card in Cuenca without a problem.

  • A UNICEF card, which allows you to donate to this children's charity via your use of the card.
  • An American Airlines card, which lets you collect AAdvantage points.

Gift Cards

Diners Club also offers gift cards, including one for Multicines in Cuenca and Quito.

Applying for a Credit Card

If you decide you'd like a Diners Club International card, you'll have to go to their offices on the fourth floor of the Banco Pichincha main branch in Cuenca, on Av. 12 de Abril and Av. Solano if you don't want to apply online.

If you prefer, apply online for any of the cards mentioned above.

Summary

With acceptance at over 21,000 locations in Ecuador, the Diners Club International credit card is definitely a useful card to have. Be sure to read what each card has to offer, and read the fine print (if you need to have someone translate it for you, the cost will be well worth it).

With the right card, you can go just about anywhere (except perhaps North America) and use your card.

I just want to thank you both soooo much for creating this web site. I am originally from Cuenca but moved to New York 11 years ago and have not being back since. My husband and I are planning on visiting Cuenca over the Summer and this web site has helped me a lot.

When I came to the US we still had the "sucre," the bus ride cost 1,000 sucres and a pack of trident gum would cost 3,000 sucres. I am very nervous to go back, but thanks to your web site I now know what to expect.

My husband is American and Captivating Cuenca has taught him a lot about what my great city has to offer, things that I had forgotten about myself! :)

Thank You both so much! I cannot wait to visit Cuenca!!
