Are There Montessori Schools in Cuenca?

Our son is in lower elementary and we were wondering if there were Montessori schools for elementary age children and up to high school.

*****

I found information about two schools here.

1. Infantil Academia Montessori
Juan Jose Flores 1-29 y Paseo de los Canaris
Cuenca, Azuay 17-07-8927
Ecuador
Voice: 593 7-80-11-45

I don't know if the information is accurate about this school. The information came from a web site database search. They're not listed in the Cuenca phone book, and I can't find anything about them on the web.

My guess is that the phone number won't work either. It looks to be short one digit.

2. Gallan Montessori School

I found mention of this school on another Montessori web site. But this one isn't listed in the Cuenca phone book either, and has no web site of its own.

I'm asking around for more details. If I find any, I'll add a comment here.

Tuition is $150 per month for one child and $100 per additional child, ages 1-8. My quad-lingual program in 2013 will be ages 8 and up. It's a really sweet school.

CEDEI Is Not Just a Language School
by: Anonymous

CEDEI is not only a language school. It also has a regular elementary school that is bilingual. It does not just teach languages but all subjects that a normal elementary school teaches.

Also CEDEI seems to be implementing the Montessori method. Actually they say they implement teaching philosophies such as the ones by John Dewey, Maria Montessori, Rudolph Steiner, Paulo Freire and Howard Gardner.

I'll note here that CEDEI is a language school. So they'll only be teaching languages using these methods. No art, math, science, etc.

I just want to thank you both soooo much for creating this web site. I am originally from Cuenca but moved to New York 11 years ago and have not being back since. My husband and I are planning on visiting Cuenca over the Summer and this web site has helped me a lot.

When I came to the US we still had the "sucre," the bus ride cost 1,000 sucres and a pack of trident gum would cost 3,000 sucres. I am very nervous to go back, but thanks to your web site I now know what to expect.

My husband is American and Captivating Cuenca has taught him a lot about what my great city has to offer, things that I had forgotten about myself! :)

Thank You both so much! I cannot wait to visit Cuenca!!
